I can’t believe it! If there is one drink that is our epitome of “it’s hot, let’s have a drink” then it is the classic (minus exchanging white rum for an aged one) Daiquiri. We have covered the Hemmingway Daiquiri as well as a Daiquiri with elderflower influence, but how could we forego the classic choice? Seeing how summer 2017 makes an entrance with a vengeance, let’s get straight to the task.
Rum is one of our favorite base spirits to mix cocktails with so it probably comes as no surprise to anyone that we are huge fans of the Daiquiri. Just use high quality ingredients and you can’t really do anything wrong with this drink. The real classic Daiquiri is based on white rum but, as usually, we are strong believers in the flavor profile that you get from using a nicely aged dark rum. We’re of course not saying that dark rum is always better… but… well, no, actually I’m going to fight you to prove that aged rum is the MVP.
The Daiquiri. The perfect choice, be it for your garden party, while listening music at night or, well, whenever, just because yes please!
Classic DaiquiriPrint This
- 9 parts rum
- 3 parts simple syrup
- 5 parts lime juice
Freshly squeeze lime juice.
Fill a shaker with a lot of ice and give all ingredients into it.
Shake well, then fine strain it into a cocktail glass.
For best results, pre-chill the cocktail glass to prevent the Daiquiri from getting warm too quickly. The real classic Daiquiri asks for white rum but we feel like an aged rum gives a better flavor.
